First United Methodist Church is located on the corner of Bucher St. and 6th Street (West Rd). We are just south of Baxter Regional Medical Center, just east of Hackler Intermediate, just North of Mountain Home High School and west of the Town Square. You can see a map and find directions here.
You can find details on what the United Methodist Church believes here.
We have two styles of worship.
Our Crossroads service at 9:00 am is a contemporary style worship, with a worship band.
Our 11:00 am service is a traditional style worship, with liturgy, hymns and a chancel choir.
There are many ways to become active in the life of First United Methodist Church. On this website you can look at the various missions and ministries of the church. If you see something that interests you, then please contact the church office and we would be happy to discuss it further with you. We have also have many ways to serve on Sunday mornings that give folks a chance to plug in. Whatever your gifts may be, we can use them for a greater purpose at First United Methodist Church Mountain Home!
Another way to plug in here is to attend a Sunday School class or join a LifeGroup.
Children of all ages are always welcome in worship. However, we do offer a nursery for children 0-3 years old during both services and Sunday School. Simply ask a greeter or usher to direct you to the nursery if you would like to utilize this service. For any children who are in worship with their parents, we do have a "Children's Moment" at both services where all children are invited to the chancel steps for a “Children’s Moment” – a worship reflection designed just for them. At 10:00 we offer Sunday School for all children preschool-5th grade and youth 6th-12th grade, and adults of all ages. For more information on our First Kidz children's program and activities, visit the Children's Ministry Page.
We welcome all Christians from all backgrounds. We hope that you will consider becoming a member of First United Methodist Church of Mountain Home. We believe that your life and the life of our church will be richer if you do. If you would like to learn more about becoming a member, we invite you to "Coffee with the Pastor" to learn more about "Next Steps" which will guide you and help you find ways to connect, grow and serve. Periodically, we offer a Methodism 101 for anyone new to Methodism or for folks who just want to learn more about the history and theology of the Methodist Church.
When you join a United Methodist Church you will be asked, “Will you be loyal to The United Methodist Church, and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service and your witness?"
PRAYERS
Our commitment to uphold the Church through prayer is based upon the fundamental reality that we need God’s guidance in order to be the church. That is why we pray for our pastors, for our teachers, for one another, and for those who may never even enter our doors.
PRESENCE
Our commitment to uphold the Church by our presence is a visible witness of our faith, both in the church and in the world. Our relationship to Christ is nurtured by our presence in worship where we find spiritual guidance, comfort and strength. We also uphold the Church by our presence at home, at work, at school, and in the community. Wherever we are, our presence should be an expression of our commitment to Christ.
GIFTS
Our commitment to uphold the Church by our gifts is a thankful response from the heart for all God has given us. The giving of financial gifts also helps to establish and maintain ministries that no individual or single congregation could fund alone.
SERVICE
Our commitment to be loyal to the Church and uphold it by our service further reflects our commitment to follow the example of Christ, who came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a sacrifice for many (Matthew 20:28). God has entrusted all of us with certain talents and abilities, and sharing these gifts is a means of sharing ourselves out of love and gratitude toward God and love for one another.
WITNESS
We are called to live our faith and be a witness to God’s grace, love and power by helping all know and respond to the love of God in Christ. We can share the gospel by not only talking to others about Christ, but also by revealing the light of Christ through our actions and sharing the love and hope that we have found as Christ followers with others.
