Rev. John FlemingIt's September! Can anyone tell me what happened to the summer? During my growing up years, the summer months flew by and the months when school was in session seemed to crawl by. I’ve always been a fan of June, July, and August. I’ll never complain about the heat! I love the pace of the summer with longer days and more family time. For me, school never began before Labor Day, but these days, we start school earlier, it seems. Disciple Bible Study Begins September 13th Other Study Opportunities New Employees on Board Back to Church Sunday These are just a few of our activities planned. Read the newsletter for a complete list. Good things are happening in our church and in our community. I’m glad to be a part of it all!

Back to Church SundaySeptember 20th Sunday, September 20, First United Methodist Church will join with thousands of churches nationwide for Back to Church Sunday. We want to invite everyone in the Mounrtain Home area to come for this special day! There will be services at 9:00 and 11:00 and a Brunch Reception at 10:00 in the UMAC Commons (United Methodist Activity Center). Everyone is welcome to attend. With the recent statistics and studies showing that loneliness is a real issue in our culture, we want our community to know that our church, and really every church, is here as a resource and a place where people can connect, make friends and find support for when life gets hard. This year’s Back to Church Sunday campaign is designed around a “Find Your Place” theme. We live in a world that is increasingly digital, transient, and lonely. Many people in your neighborhood are searching for belonging, purpose, and a community where they are known. We are inviting our community to Find Their Place at our church, to discover that they weren't meant to do life alone, and to experience a Biblical community that cares. Let's be inviters! Invitation cards will be available on starting this Sunday, September 6th! We encourage you to take some with you and hand them out to the people you cross paths with throughout your week to let them know that they are invited! |

We are so excited to be back to First Kidz Wednesday afternoon ministries begining Wednesday, September 9th! We are continuing with our DIG IN curiculum. Last year's program was "The Life of Jesus". This year the program is called "Epic Teachings of the Bible". We start our Wednesday afternoons with snack once the kids arrive. If your kids aren't already registered for Wednesdays, you can register them using the button below. Reminder: Acolyte training will be on Wednesday, September 16th. Congratulations to our newest acolytes, Henry Caststeel, and Ollie Rodgers! Henry and Ollie will also be presented with their personalized bibles in church on October 11th! That same afternoon all children 3rd - 5th grade will be invited to join us for Bible Exploration where we learn how to navigate through our bibles with fun and interactive activities! Thank you to the volunteers who are already helping with Wednesdays. If you are interested in helping out on Wednesdays or Sundays for Sunday School, please email me at llaw@fumcmh.org. There are many low stress and easy ways to help. We need bus drivers, bus riders, teacher helpers and recreation supervisors. Plus, the kids are so much fun! Have a great September! 605 Student Ministries
605 Students, Families, and Friends,
September is here and we are rocking and rolling in this new school year. I pray that everything has been so great for all of our families as this year has started.
I am so excited for weekly programing to start this month as well. We are back at youth group starting the week of Labor Day! We get one last small break and a long weekend to celebrate the end of summer and dive head first back into everything that we have planned for this school year!
605 Students 6th-8th will be starting back with weekly programming on Wednesday September 9th. Students at Pinkston will be picked up from school and 8th graders will walk over from the junior high, we will then share in some snacks, a lesson, conversation, and fun and games. Pick-up will be between 5:15 & 5:30PM! If your student needs a ride from Pinkston please let me know.
605 Students 9th-12th will begin meeting on Sunday Evenings from 5:00-7:00PM starting Sunday, September 13th! We are so excited for this shift in schedule and have been praying about all of the amazing things that are to come with this new time for meeting!
We will be serving dinner on Sunday Nights for our high school group. If you are interested in sponsoring a meal please let me know and we can get you signed up!
I am very excited for the lesson series that we will begin mid-September. The first series of the school year is: GOING PLACES: A 4-WEEK SERIES FROM THE GOSPELS ON FRIENDSHIP! Our friends are some of the most important people in our lives. Our friends know us best. They’re the people we’ve spent countless hours with telling stories, laughing, and creating memories together. We all know having great friendships means a lot more than just having people to hang out with, but how do you find friends like that? How do you build the kinds of friendships that last? And what do you do if you feel like your friendships aren't everything you'd want them to be? In this four-week series from the Gospels, we’ll take a look at how Jesus treated the people he cared about in order to learn how we can better treat our friends. Through Jesus' example, we’ll discover that friends don’t miss a chance to care for each other, aren’t afraid to challenge each other, don’t let differences divide them, and aren’t afraid to talk about what they believe.
This month is a big one for transition and we are here to walk through this change with you. If you have questions or need anything, please let me know. More activities will be coming to you this month so check out the band group, our social media, and the weekly parent email as we continue to add to the calendar and future events pop-up.
Until then here is the current September Schedule!
