Rev. John FlemingAppointed Again! If you were in one of our worship services on Father’s Day (June 21st), you heard me say that at the conclusion of this year’s Annual Conference, our Bishop, Laura Merrell, fixed the appointments for the coming conference year. What that means is that the appointments for the next year are finalized. I will have to tell you that I don’t take this process for granted. It is an honor to be appointed to serve a church as pastor. And when our Bishop fixes the appointments, I am always grateful for being appointed. This is my thirty-third year under appointment. The practice of sending or the appointment of pastors to churches is as old as the founder of the Methodist movement. John Wesley believed that there was the threat of complacency if a pastor stayed in one location for too long. I won’t go into the process here, but if you’d like to know more, I’d be happy to tell you more. What I’d like to do here, though, is to tell you how excited I am that we have this next year (and hopefully many more) together. If were able to pull back a curtain and see what the year has in store for us, we would see that there will be weddings and memorial services, baptisms and confirmations, Bible studies and small group meetings, youth activities and children’s events. We will continue to do some benchmark ministries such as Vacation Bible School and our Easter Extravaganza. There will be Christmas Eve services and there will be Easter celebrations. There will be Wednesday afternoon activities and our More Than a Meal ministry. There will be a Christmas Cantata and there will be special services during Holy week. New people will come to join our church family. And these are just the things that we know about. I would like to share a goal I have for our new conference year. I want to see our study ministries grow. I’d like to see more small group gatherings and classes on Sunday mornings and throughout the week. I’d love to see families come to learn and then to worship together or to come to worship and then stay for classes. I’ll be sharing more about that as August approaches. Please do consider this, this year. Hope Always,

Summer Giving
Summer is here and as vacations come and go and lake days are numerous, we ask that you think about automatic giving this summer. This is a great way to maintain your financial support for your home church even when you are away! There are two ways to do this: 1. Set up an automatic ACH draft from your bank. All we need to set this up for you is your name, account number and routing number or a voided check which has this information on it. 2. Set up recurring online donations through tithe.ly from our website at fumcmh.org/give. There are fees involved with this method but you can choose to cover the fees if you like. Please keep in mind that if you choose not to cover the fees, your giving will reflect the amount you choose to give minus those fees lowering your giving slightly. Youth Ministries605 Student Ministry 605 Students, Families, and Friends, June has come to a close- in what feels like the blink of an eye! This past month we have embraced summer, shared in some wonderful meals together, had some amazing conversations, enjoyed a day at Silver Dollar City, and so much more. I am excited to see what July brings to us as a group- and here is some important information. I am so excited to welcome our upcoming class of 6th graders to 605 students! Here in July you are invited to join us for all of the youth activities and we cannot wait to start seeing your smiling faces! Parent Emails- 6th grade parents, starting the beginning of July you will be receiving our weekly Parent Email, parents of our other 605 students you should be getting these weekly already. For this weekly email we are updating the system that we use so many parents can gain the important youth information without some of the extra things they may not want. This change-over may take a little time and I would greatly appreciate your input and feedback. If you think you should be getting this weekly email and for some reason you are not- please let me know. If you are getting this email and you would like to not be receiving it for some reason- please let me know! I want this system to work for all of us and I am doing my best to streamline and communicate in the best ways. This system is also how I send out information about upcoming trips for youth! I hope those emails are helpful in gaining knowledge about the trips we take and determining if your student wants to attend! Band App- for those that are newer to our group, upcoming 6th graders and their families, or those who have yet to join; we use the band app to help students and parents stay up to date on what is happening with 605 Students. This group also allows for more instantaneous updates when events change or something comes up rather than hoping an email is read and received. If you are not yet a part of that group check out the first parent email of the month or reach out and we can get you connected. Monthly Newsletter- during the school year, a youth specific newsletter is mailed to your home address each month. You may have discovered this at the beginning of summer with the 605 Students Summer News. If you find that you are not getting these newsletters in the mail, please let me know and I will make sure you are on the mailing list and your information is up to date. All of these ways of communicating are meant to help you get information in a way that is most helpful to you and with as much clarity as possible. Each way of communicating also provides opportunities for different amounts of depth and to give all of the details and upcoming announcements to families. I hope this sneak peak into some of the 605 Student systems is helpful to you. Now for the important July highlights and full calendar: Lunchin’ with the Lord: 605 Students will meet for lunch and conversation on Wednesday July 1st, July 15th, and July 29th. Each meeting will happen at 12:00PM but the location will change each week. Check parent emails, the band app, and our social media for updates on where those lunches will happen. Day at White Water: Students in upcoming 6th grade through graduated 12th graders are invited to join us for a day at White Water Park! Please RSVP to Kyra by Monday July 6th for that trip! Youth Movie: Mark your calendars for Friday July 17th. We plan to go see the new live action Moana this day. More information will be coming to you soon on this pop-up summer event. Assembly: For those that have signed up for this summer Conference those dates are July 20th-24th. More information about the trip itself will come to you and your families as we get closer to this trip. Full July Calendar: Join 605 Student Ministries on Social Media!
