SUMMER IS HERE!

Rev. Keith Dodson
2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” As I was packing up canvases in the parsonage the other day, I packed away one of our favorites with 2 Corinthians 5:7 written on it. We received this canvas when we moved into our home in El Dorado. This verse has been a guide for my family as we have served in ministry. It is a constant reminder to us that no matter how life changes, we live by faith. And boy this year has seen some major changes, from COVID to my youngest graduating from High School! And I know that you feel the pains and joys of changes in your own life. My prayer is that this verse will bring you the same comfort as we go through the major change in June that is before us as a church. This scripture gives us the ability to look to the future with an undeniable hope, because God is already there. This scripture also reminds us that we put our faith into what is at times unseen, and knowing that when we place God at the center of our lives and we follow Him, we have nothing to fear. My prayer is that you will find this time of change to be exciting for FUMCMH. A time of fresh new leadership, and ministry opportunities. A time to dream what the future will be like now that we are moving past the burdens we have known for the past year. A time to be excited about where God is going to lead YOUR church into 2022! I know that you're in good hands, not just because Pastor Daniel and his wife Fran, are amazing people (they are!), but also because you are ultimately in God’s hands during this time. So, because we have faith in the unseen and seen, we know that God is moving at FUMCMH and will continue to do so, so embrace this time of change as something that will be awesome! From my family to yours, thank you for the opportunity to serve this wonderful church for the past 3 years!! With a thankful heart, Bro. Keith For more infomation visit:

Is it time to get off the sofa?
As church attendance numbers fade across the nation and online services become very convenient (who doesn't love not getting ready in the morning or leaving the home?!), it's important to remember why church attendance for you and your family matters so much. |

Farewell BBQ for the Dodson FamilySunrise, Sunset Please join us at a special Farewell BBQ as we celebrate the Dodson family and their time here as part of the FUMCMH family. As the sun sets on their time here in Mountain Home it rises for their time in Benton. We know that Benton will be blessed by Bro. Keith, Lori, Bekah and Josh because we were. Let's show themm our love and appreciation for that blessing. The BBQ will begin aproximately 12:30 pm (after the 11:00 service has ended). We ask that you bring a side and/or a dessert to share. The BBQ will be provided. We hope to see you there so that the Dodson's last moments with us will be special and memorable and will show them what they have meant to each and every one of us! |
Small GroupsAre You Ready? Jesus’ plan for making disciples was simple. He focused on relationships with a small group of followers. He spent most of His time instructing them, relating to them, and participating in ministry with them. There are several types of small groups. A small group is a group of people usually 12 or less that meets regularly such as Sunday School classes, LifeGroups, Bible study groups, etc. These small groups have disciple-making advantages, especially during and after Covid-19. They can meet in places that larger groups cannot and they allow strong relationships to form which is difficult in a larger church body. The pandemic has made it nearly impossible for us to gather in large groups. Since Covid began, some of our small groups haven’t been able to gather at all. Some however, have continued to meet regularly via Zoom. Either way, the important thing for these close-knit groups is that they have stayed connected with one another by phone calls, emails, social media, etc. Members of your small group become people you can lean on, trust and confide in. Small groups who have found creative ways to successfully weather the Covid-19 storm may have an advantage as we make the transition back into meeting regularly face to face, but as a church, we are committed to helping all our small groups with this transition. Be it on the church campus or at another location such as members homes, we encourage you to start looking at this transition. One of the main goals of discipleship is to provide the body of Christ with leaders and role-models who can teach others and lead Bible studies or small groups. Some of you have long tenure with a class or group as a teacher. Others of you whom have been mentored and know the ropes might make a great facilitator or leader of a new or existing group. Remember, God does not call the equipped, He equips the called. We are getting a once-in-a-lifetime reset here. We have the opportunity to go back to our roots of outreach, teaching, training and multiplying by starting new small groups. We have the opportunity to invite new people and bring back old friends. As we start back in-person, there’s going to be a lot of needed ministry. It’s going to require us to look within and to step out of our comfort zones. We will need to reach out and invite people who once sat down the row from us or across the circle from us. We will need to reach out to our neighbors and friends and encourage them to be part of a small group. During this past year, we have had a few leaders retire. We have classes that are full and need new facilitators/leaders. Groups do not have to be led by one single person. Think about co-leading, co-facilitating, or co-teaching. Whether it’s studying in a Sunday School class or Bible study, gathering together in a Life Group or ministry group, we all need to connect relationally and we need everyones help to do that. We have made the church a safe place to meet and we are available to help provide any materials you may need. Let’s not miss this opportunity. Let’s use this trying time for something good. Let’s look for improvement where we need it and find strength where we see weakness. We have set aside the month of June for finding new leaders/facilitators and starting new groups. We will then use the month of July for any training or preparation that may be needed. Then, in August we will launch any new groups that are formed. Any classes or groups that have ready to start sooner than August, go for it! If you need a place to meet here at the church, or need help with anything, just call the church office and ask for Kathy. And of course, if you have continued meeting throughout the pandemic, keep it going! Let’s work together to make First United Methodist Church of Mountain Home stronger together. After all, our Mission statement is “Making life better and YOU better at life through Jesus Christ”. |

Can Tab DonationsHelp children in need On behalf of Hackler Intermediate School personnel and needy students, thank you very much to those of you who have donated can tabs. Your support for this project has been overwhelming. As most of you know, the can tabs are sent by the school to a distribution center where a check is then issued to the school. Children in need are the recipients. Please, just leave the can tabs at the FUMC office. Pat Rush |
